Molotov Cocktail

Originally falling into great favor by Francisco's nationalists during the Spanish Civil War, to aid in destroying Soviet tanks fighting for the Republican forces, the Molotov Cocktail would not receive it's trademark name for another several years. This would come during the Soviet invasion of Finland during the 1939 Winter War. A riff on the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, the reference was both to the Soviet minister Molotov, as well as his much lamented claims that Soviet firebombing campaigns against Finnish cities were merely humanitarian aid drops. Referring to the bombs being dropped as "Molotov's Bread Baskets", their petrol bomb in response to Soviet armor then came to be known as "Molotov's Cocktail".
