WWII Polaroid "Tanker" Goggles Head
Following difficulty in producing sufficient quantities of the M1938 Resistol Goggles, Polaroid was contracted to produce several iterations of expedient rubber and plastic goggles for pilots, drivers, and tank crews. The most common, model 1021 goggles, identifiable by their brighter grey construction, were issued throughout every theatre of war and often found their way into the hands of regular infantry. They would ultimately be replaced by the ubiquitous black rubber M1944 goggles, although relatively little stock would make it to the frontlines before the end of the war.
