$32.00 - $200.00

With many of my most requested previous minifigures being based on the battle of Guadalcanal, I've been planning on circling back and examining it again with my current approach of 1:1 representations of real people. This particular minifigure is based off the widely known photo of a 7th Marine, taking a break next to a hillside machinegun emplacement.

The 7th Marines, interestingly landed on Guadalcanal a month after the initial offensive, bolstering the rest of the beleaguered 1st Marine Division defending against Japanese counterattacks. The 7th, as well as the 8th Marines, landed wearing the standard Marine khaki uniforms, having not yet received the new M1941 dungarees. The khaki uniform can also be seen worn across just about every Marine regiment on Guadalcanal, as their dungaree uniforms wore out, and replenishment for anything but food and ammunition of little importance to the Navy under threat of attack on any supply convoy.

This figure, matching the reference image, includes art with the uniform shirt worn open, showcasing a color matched chest print to the minifigure head, as well as dog tags with cross detail. I've added a Marine Corps Thompson drum pouch carried on his shoulder as well, to match the tommy gun in the photo. To complete the figure is a new printed BrickArms helmet, representing the Hawley helmet liner. These early attempts at a liner were constructed from layers of cardboard with a fabric cover, which immediately degraded in combat environments, especially the Pacific.

Original Proof Copy - 1 of 1, first complete minifigure out of the printer. Signature by Landon Reimer, serial numbered, and sealed plastic collectors slab with Brick Warp artwork.
