WWII US Marine "Zippo Man" - Iwo Jima 1945

As we approach the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Iwo Jima, I'm focusing on the first portrayal I'm aware of in custom Lego of Marines as they appeared during this pivotal engagement. As the war in the Pacific came to a conclusion, with the old breed of Marines and disbanded Raider and Paramarine battlaions mixing in with new units of draftees, huge variances in equipment increased. Further amplified by the desolate landscape, and relatively colder temperatures on Iwo Jima, just about every variety of equipment and uniform from WWII make an appearence. 

This particular figure is based on First Flag Raiser and Flamethrower Operator Corporal Charles Lindberg. Commonly known as "Zippo Men" to other Marines, these men carried the 70 pound M2 Flamethrower into battle as their primary weapon, and have become imfamous for their service on Iwo Jima, with the average life expectancy of a "Zippo Man" often regarded to be only 4 minutes on the battlefield. 

He features a return of the BrickArms M1 helmet finally available again to me in tan, with the beach side of the reversible frogskin cover printed, as always with the pattern and color taken directly from an original. Matching the original photo, I've printed his helmet chinstraps hanging down loosely on both sides of the minifigure head. He's still wearing the standard P1941 Dungaree uniform, with the Marine Corps wool shirt underneath, commonly seen with most Marines on Iwo Jima due to the colder climate. I've included a simple pistol belt and equipment as seen in the reference photo, as well as new art for the two hand grenades, for those that prefer to display their figures without BrickArms vests over them. 

Notably, this figure also features the special return of the BrickArms M2 Flamethrower, which has been hand produced by Will Chapman as a special batch to complete this figure. Each figure includes the complete BrickArms M2 Flamethrower, with vest, backpack tanks, rubber hose, three piece wand, and flame. 

Note: Due to the Flamethrower included with this figure, I am not offering a collectors or original edition at this time. I'm hoping to do so if I locate a larger, acceptable package in the future for my customers who want the complete lineup of every collectors edition. Only the base model is available until then.
